Our Faux Artist Sea Sponge is used by professionals and artisans for wallpapering, texturing, creating faux painting effects, pottery-making, and other types of projects. Please note that these are not whole sponges intended for decorative purposes. Native to the coastal waters of Florida, natural sponges have been used for hundreds of purposes for over 2,000 years. Our Sea sponges are processed for maximum durability, strength and water absorption.

Natural sea sponges, unlike artificial sponges, are 100% biodegradable, naturally inhibit the growth of bacteria, are environmentally safe, economical, sustainably harvested, and a quickly renewable natural resource. As with any natural product color, size and shape will vary.

Our Faux/Artist Sponges are known for their excellent absorption, soft texture, and durability. They perform well for paint sundry use, faux finishing, marbleizing, ceramics, texturing, staining, etc…

Faux Artist Sponge Use and Care Instruction

Before Use: Soak sponge in clean water; squeeze out all excess and carefully examine entire sponge to insure any particles escaping our multi-level quality control are found and removed.

Painting with a Faux/Artist Sponge: Dampen the sponge and wring out excess water. Dab sponge lightly in paint tray, blotting on paper or rags until the excess paint is removed and the desired pattern is obtained. When applying paint, use a light touch to roll the sponge over the wall or surface. Rinse your sponge thoroughly before changing colors and upon completion of the project.

After Each Use: Wash Faux/Artist Sponge. Squeeze or shake out excess water. Dry anywhere except in dark moist places. Avoid high heat.
